Bit Box

Dremel

The introduction shows the transition from the original "Bit Box" to the new digital version.

The original Dremel "Bit Box" was a house-shaped cardboard box that contained information for the Dremel rotary tool on index card sized sheets. Each quarter it was mailed to editors of hobby, craft, do-it-yourself, home maintenance, and wood working magazines. While the Bit Box was a great active marketing tool, Dremel wanted something that was cheaper to produce and more modern and exciting while still retaining the active marketing potential of the old Bit Box. Enter the new Dremel Bit Box interactive application! Each new issue of the Dremel Bit Box includes:

  • four new step-by-step projects using the Dremel rotary tool, bits and attachments, and other accessories are featured in each issue. Projects include everything from sharpening chain saws to creating a customized wine glass rack. All projects from the previous apps are gathered into a project archive so issue-by-issue the number of available projects grows. Each project is also available in PDF and plain text format for easy cutting and pasting by magazine editors and writers.
  • Dremel News — this section includes access to the latest Dremel press releases in PDF format and an interactive tour of a new Dremel tool.
  • Featured Accessories — each issue of the Dremel Bit Box comes with two complimentary Dremel accessories (for example, a mini-rotary saw attachment and a garden tool sharpener attachment). This allows the editors to try out the actual accessories while reading detailed information about the attachments in this section. Each of the featured accessories is also used in one or more of that issue's projects.
  • Media Kit — this section includes PDF and plain text versions of Dremel's history, a Dremel fact sheet, and an interactive timeline using a tape measure to measure out the years.
