The Email Updates Kiosk in action. A consumer enters his personal data.
Miller's Tour Center and Gift Shop is the gathering place for the start of daily tours of Miller's brewery in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. We created several interactive experiences to add excitement to the overall environment of the tour center including:
Email Updates Kiosk
This kiosk was designed to gather consumer's personal information for the purpose of sending opt-in email updates about events and specials at the gift shops and tour center. In exchange for their information, customers received a 15% off coupon — printed on the kiosk's enclosed thermal printer — that they could use in the gift shop for all their purchases. This kiosk's unique design, made to look like a foaming glass of beer, matched the tour center's beautiful decor perfectly. Further enhancing the kiosk's visual appeal is the customized Macintosh iMac computer with built-in touch screen monitor.
The kiosk also features a variety of administrative features, such as:
- Backup Database — this feature enables the administrator to save the current data to a backup drive such as a mini USB flash drive easily attached through the iMac's keyboard USB port. The kiosk application automatically copies the database to a backup folder and puts an empty database in place.
- Reports — a number of reports are available to the administrator including how many consumers entered their data during a given range of dates, and the number of visitors per event.
- Giveaways — while the gift shop only uses one type of giveaway (every user gets a prize), the kiosk was designed with the flexibility of offering a variety of giveaways including:
- Random — winners are chosen based on an admin defined random variant.
- Every nth user — prizes are awarded to every nth user (defined by the admin).
- sweepstakes — a number of winners are chosen from all entries in the database.
3-Screen Video and Message Display
When Miller redesigned their gift shop they wanted an exciting way to show current Miller TV spots as well as display custom messages to their visitors. This system was designed with that goal in mind. The result was a bank of four monitors for each of Miller's three major brands — Lite, Genuine Draft, and High Life — each powered by its own computer. Behind the scenes the video/messaging system delivered TV spots and custom messages controlled by a customizable play list. The system has these functions:
- Managing video assets — this tool allows the administrator to add new TV spots by browsing for video assets. Selected assets are then copied onto each computer.
- Creating and editing messages — new and existing messages are completely customizable by selecting from a variety of pre-created graphic backgrounds, selecting fonts, font sizes, font color, and positioning. Once messages are created they are available to add into the play list.
- Editing the play list — the administrator uses this section to select content for the play list from the lists of available videos and messages. Once in the play list, assets can be reordered by moving them up or down using the appropriate button. After the play list is complete and put into action, each item is displayed on the monitors in the gift shop in the order they appear in the play list.
