Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare is a not-for-profit health care organization with facilities in Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa and Colorado. In Wisconsin, Wheaton is the second largest private employer with over 12,000 associates. This screen saver was created to communicate Wheaton's core values as well as deliver custom messages from the Communication and Public Relations department. The screen saver runs on computers in Wheaton's physician clinics, hospitals, outpatient centers, and extended care facilities throughout the Mid-West.
When the screen saver starts, it picks randomly from a variety of screen layouts, photos and core value statements. As it runs, photos and core value statements move across the screen in random positions at varying speeds and directions. Once these graphic elements have finished their trip across the screen, the screen saver transitions into another randomly built layout and the process repeats.
Each screen also includes a custom message area. This message is pulled from Wheaton's network so that all screen savers across all locations display the same custom message. The message can be changed at any time by the Communication and Public Relations department by using a separate admin app. This app allows approved users to type in a new message, or edit the existing message. Once the message is saved, it becomes instantly available to all the screen savers on the entire network. This allows the Communication and Public Relations department to disseminate employee communications at any time without the need to redeploy the screen saver to thousands of computers across the network.
